Lake Conway
Lake Conway
The Conway Chain of Lakes in Orlando Florida consists of four interconnected lakes. These pristine lakes located just minutes from the Orlando International Airport are referred to as Lake Conway. The Conway Chain features 1,800 acres of crystal clear water with a hard clean sand bottom. There is abundant submerged aquatic vegetation that consists of peppergrass, eelgrass, coontail, and hydrilla. Lake Conway has an average depth of 8 feet and a maximum depth of 35 feet.
The Conway Chain’s claim to fame is it’s world class schooling Largemouth Bass action. This peaks in the cooler months and 100 fish days are possible!!. This schooling activity is usually the best during cold, post front conditions. Orlando’s Lake Conway has a large population of Shad which the Bass feed on heavily. When the water temperature drops below 70 degrees the Shad gather in massive schools. This signals the dinner bell for resident Bass and allows me to guide my clients to an action packed Orlando fishing charter adventure. It’s a normal occurrence to see hundreds of Bass busting Shad on the surface and flocks of birds diving into them.
I look for feeding birds, surface activity, and keep a constant eye on my electronics searching for Bass below the surface. This action is fast and furious and you will enjoy a thrilling light tackle experience that you will never forget.
As an Orlando bass fishing guide over the years I have discovered a variety of artificial lures that consistently work well on the Conway Chain of Lakes. I will teach you what, where, when, and how to use them effectively. Depending on your experience level and preference, I also may net live Shad for you to use for bait during your Florida Bass fishing trip on Lake Conway. This can be extremely productive especially when the fish are finicky.
Lake Conway is located in a beautiful neighborhood in South Orlando. Randolf Boat Ramp (5601 Birr Ct.) is the larger of the two public boat ramps and is located off Hoffner Avenue next to the First Baptist Church (1001 Hoffner Ave). It is two blocks east of Orange Ave (SR527). Surrounded by high price homes, this urban lake in Central Florida is minutes away from Walt Disney World, Epcot Center, Universal Studios, Sea World, MGM, and other Orlando Florida area attractions. While your visiting Central Florida vacationing in Orlando, come enjoy a day of Florida Bass fishing with me on the Conway Chain of Lakes
